Program Overview:
The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes you can repeat books) before your precious one starts kindergarten. Does it sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 in three years. If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think.
How to Participate:
Come in to the Rossford Public Library to register at the Juvenile Reference desk. You will receive a sheet to log the first 200 books.
Write down the titles of the books you have read to your child or your child has read on the log sheet. After your child has completed one sheet, 200 titles, return the log to the library to receive a prize and a new log sheet. For every sheet completed, 200 titles per sheet, 5 sheets total, you will receive a prize.
When you reach 1,000 books your child will receive a prize book with a commemorative book plate, upon agreement, their photo will be taken for our social media page and the local paper, their name will appear on our digital sign outside.
